Technical Product Manager

Job Description Summary:

Responsible for delivering high-quality, relevant scientific content to the business, including, but not limited to

Application Notes, White Papers, and end-market standard operating procedures supporting key strategic segments for AA, ICP-OES and ICP-MS. This candidate will provide business leadership to define and deliver successful research on products and solutions to customers globally. This individual will initiate and lead customer solution-oriented growth opportunities that leverage PerkinElmer’s strengths. This role works closely with PerkinElmer cross-functional teams, such as, R&D to provide technical requirements for new product development and product testing, Market Segment Strategy Leaders, Portfolio Marketing team, Sales, Quality, and Operations, as appropriate, to identify product opportunities based on strategic and customer-focused needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of business unit products to provide insight into applications and possible growth opportunities.
  • Driving NPI technical readiness. This includes defining user specifications, testing to new product specifications and not limited to, software validation, method implementation, and occasionally performing instrument and method troubleshooting.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers/KOLs through both pre and post sales and support activities, use these opportunities to gathering feedback and insights to drive product improvements. Act as a customer advocate within the organization
  • Develop product portfolio by working with strategic market segment leaders to represent the needs of the customer in ongoing and new portfolio growth opportunities.
  • Perform competitive research analysis effectively mapping the competitive landscape and develop sustainable strategies.
  • Work with cross-functional, departmental, and/or company team members to accomplish short-term and long-term business objectives.
  • Driving execution of turn-key applications development for respective markets
  • Evaluating competitive publications and presentations and devising a clear strategy to demonstrate PerkinElmer's competitive edge.
  • Transferring application knowledge to the regions
  • Assisting R&D operations or support teams with problem solving, in regards, to test validations and verifications of tests
  • Troubleshooting competitor weaknesses; providing R&D needed information as to how to design better products and communicating with sales, marketing and R&D to identify key pain points.
  • Collaborating with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key account managers, as appropriate
  • Verifying/providing proof points for products (NPI technology focused)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Chemistry is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in ICP-OES and ICP-MS
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry OR Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or equivalent
  • Experience in complementary techniques, LA-ICP-MS, Nano-ICP-MS and speciation is strongly preferred.
