The purpose of the OneSource Customer Service Engineer is support the OneSource Enterprise program at our client facility in Slough.

With deep industry knowledge, OneSource addresses our clients’ lab requirements to help optimize their business outcomes, delivering everything from everyday instrument repair to data integrity services. OneSource takes a one-of-kind managed approach, utilizing a powerful, interwoven suite of solutions including analytics, compliance, laboratory computing, scientific lab support, asset management, lab relocation, and other services.

This role would be suitable for an engineer or technician familiar with maintenance and repair of analytical laboratory instrumentation, or a lab scientist looking for a change in career. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, repair and validation of laboratory instruments and their accessories.
  • Organizes routine maintenance activity as allocated on a monthly basis.
  • Carries out repairs on instruments as and when required.
  • Assist in administrative duties when requested by site leader.
  • Actively demonstrates compliance with performance targets. 
  • Makes returns of all fully completed service documentation including Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expenses Claims, etc, routinely as required.
  • Maintains high level of customer satisfaction while performing the above.

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent in Electronics, Biology, Chemistry or related discipline.

Experience required:

  • Previous experience of working in a lab environment
  • Experience of maintenance, calibration and/or repairs of any laboratory equipment preferred but user experience of relevant instrumentation a suitable alternative background.

Advantageous

  • Scientific and technical background or knowledge in analytical or biotechnology disciplines would be ideal, especially Liquid Chromatography (HPLC and UHPLC).
  • Previous experience of using or servicing Waters, Agilent or GE instruments.

Competencies

  • Exhibits an assertive personality with a strong bias for action and a results-orientation.
  • Good analytical skills to solve problems autonomously.
  • The ability to work under time constraints, maintain alertness and concentration, work safely with potential electrical, chemical, radiologic, and biologic hazards using universal precautions.
  • Fluent in English in both reading and writing
  • Good written and oral communication skills. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and a Team Player
  • Evidence of skills, or enthusiasm to develop skills in an array of engineering areas.
