The Finance and Accounting Director oversees all financial aspects of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations while optimizing financial performance. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning. The Finance and Accounting Director collaborates with internal departments to analyze financial data, provide insights, and support decision-making processes. Additionally, they supervise accounting staff, ensuring accurate and timely completion of financial tasks and maintaining integrity in financial operations. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, exceptional financial acumen, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with Local GAAP and US GAAP for North America and Europe regions.
  • Oversee all financial operations regarding indirect taxes and statistical reporting.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, identify areas for improvement, and assess financial performance across regions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors for the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations to support audit procedures.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and ensure proper accounting treatment in compliance with transfer pricing regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, sales, and legal, to support business initiatives, provide financial insights, and drive cross-functional projects.
  • Support merger and acquisition activities in the regions including financial integration, and post-acquisition financial reporting.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on financial matters, providing guidance and recommendations to support strategic objectives.
  • Supervise accounting staff, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee financial audits and indirect tax filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead change initiatives related to financial accounting processes, systems implementations, and organizational restructuring to adapt to evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.

Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Very strong analytical skills and strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, Revenue recognition standards and compliance risk processes
  • Strong forward and process thinking skills and good understanding of system functionalities.
  • Strong Communication skills (oral and written)
  • Exhibits a high level of attention to details.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter willing to deliver results and meet strict deadlines.
  • Positive attitude, proactive and flexible.
  • Good organization skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and projects and work under time pressure.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience required in finance or accounting.
  • Previous experience working in a 2nd line manager.
  • CPA\ACCA or equivalent required is a plus.
  • Must have a working knowledge of US GAAP and other local & regional accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, IASB).
  • Experience in working with SAP/HFM is a plus.

Language Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to speak other European languages is a plus.
