Job Summary

PerkinElmer is looking for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer who is responsible for supplier development and supplier quality management for all commodities. The role also includes onboarding new suppliers to PerkinElmer that meet company standards and are compliant with local laws and regulations. Supplier daily management and coach on process control to reduce the influence on mass production material. Continuously improve supplier quality level in supply chain.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain supplier quality standards and processes. Conduct supplier audits to evaluate their quality management systems and capabilities.

  • Perform risk assessments on new and existing suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement initiatives using SCAR.

  • Establish and maintain quality metrics to track supplier performance. Work with Quality/ Engineering / Production team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.

  • Coordinate New Product Introduction and First Article Qualification activities.

  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues and perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues.

  • Work with the supplier directly, create correction action plans to address process failures. Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.

  • Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.

  • Provide concise, complete, and accurate documentation of inspection results relative to area of responsibility. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval or product warrant submission.

  • Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers and support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance.

  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process, or system.

  • Lead in special projects and key initiatives identified as needed.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good understanding of quality management systems and tools such as PPAP, FMEA, and SPC.

  • Experience conducting supplier audits and implementing corrective actions.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards relevant to manufacturing such as (ISO45001/OHSAS18001 and ISO14001)

  • Good knowledge on industry materials, and processes such as plastics, sheet metal, casting, machining, PCBA, harness or sub assembly

  •  Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.

  • Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  

  • Clear understanding of supplier quality and requirements, including measurement techniques, would be a distinct advantage.

  •  Strong root cause analytical and problem-solving skills.

  •  Good knowledge in quality tools such as SPC,8D, and ISO related.

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills; good communication bridge between PKI and suppliers as quality side
