Key Responsibilities:

  • Grow and maintain primary, mammalian and specialized cell lines (suspension, adherent, 3D organoids) to be used in biological assay work.
  • Maintain cell biobank of patient derived cell lines.
  • Prepare conditioned media for successful maintenance of cells.
  • Working with complex cell culture models (ALI Cultures)
  • Cell fixing, staining and imaging
  • Experience with any of the following is  preferable: Epithelial Cell Culture, Western Blot, isolation, Flow Cytometry (including analysis of data), ELISA or MSD assays
  • Ensure aseptic technique is adhered to in the maintenance of cells
  • Adherence to Health and Safety procedures for own well-being and quality of product.
  • Actively seek opportunities to develop the service by discussion with customer or by the sharing of best practice with other groups.
  • Assist with the preparation of SOPs, Risk Assessments and best practice guides.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Technical Laboratory Services Group and  promote PerkinElmer’s core values.
  • Operate to approved quality standards.
  • Work independently and flexibly depending on team priorities and  set realistic work schedules to support requirements.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the line manager or project team leader.

  • MS Office Skills: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

Basic Qualification:  

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or Biomedical sciences fields or related scientific discipline and research experience in an laboratory environment OR,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or Biomedical sciences fields or related scientific discipline and 2+ years of research experience in an laboratory environment utilizing cell culture, general lab instrumentation, cell-based assays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with  biotech and/or pharmaceutical drug discovery. 
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality, consistent results in a timely fashion.
  • Experience with the any/all of the following: ELISAs, MSD, protein/RNA isolation, Western blotting, RT-qPCR, gel electrophoresis
  • Ability meet timelines successfully with the utmost attention to detail while setting high performance standards.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data.
  • Previous experience in design and execution of new and established methods and protocols
  • Ability to execute new and established methods and protocols.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

Working Environment

  • Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.). 
  • Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high. 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time 
  • The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite. Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.   
  • Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds). 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.   
  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. 
  • Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations.  Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste. 
  • Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, hazardous chemicals.
  • May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against animal allergens where animals are present in the laboratory environment.

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $58,240 to $87,320. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
