PerkinElmer is seeking a Manager of Domestic Taxes. Responsibilities involve US federal state tax compliance and reporting, US aspects of the income tax provision, tax research and planning projects, and audit activity. The role will require regular contact with accounting, treasury, finance and other personnel across the Company worldwide. The individual will be part of an international tax team and it will be necessary to exercise initiative and project management skills in connection with tax compliance and planning projects.

Purpose and Key Responsibilities

The Manager, Domestic Taxes will provide a critical role in supporting the PKI Tax Department and will be responsible for: 

  • Managing a team of tax professionals focused on domestic tax matters;

  • Managing the federal, state and US international reporting tax compliance and income tax payment requirements;

  • Managing the federal, state and US international components of the income tax provision, including monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, research around the tax accounting treatment of various transactions, and compliance with SOX protocols.

  • Managing domestic audit inquiries and other communications from taxing authorities;

  • Coordinating and working effectively with finance and controllership personnel, as well as outside tax providers to understand, identify, explain, and implement necessary revisions and modifications to the Company’s tax positions;

  • Monitoring legislative developments impacting PerkinElmer’s domestic filing positions;

  • Supporting the Tax and Finance teams in developing systems, processes and procedures to drive best practices.

A successful candidate will have a strong federal, state and US international tax technical background, excellent project management skills and the vision to leverage technology, including the ability to lead and coach the domestic tax group. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of tax experience in public accounting and/or multinational corporate environments

  • Bachelor’s Degree Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred

  • Ability to manage domestic projects and team regarding federal, state and US international matters

  • Excellent accounting and analytical skills

  • Experience with US GAAP income tax accounting rules

  • Excellent Excel skills and other systems knowledge and skills including SAP, OneSource, Hyperion, HFM, Business Objects, and other database tools advantageous.

Leadership and Organization:

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a desire for continuous improvement;

  • Diligent and thorough, with an attention to detail;

  • Confident self starter, self motivated, resilient, and tenacious with a clear bias for action; and

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix reporting environment;

  • Proficiency at managing staff at all levels and experience in goal setting and performance evaluations.

Communications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels and functions; and

  • Ability to communicate complex and technical matters effectively.

Travel:

  • Reasonable and necessary travel requirement
