Frontline Engineer

The Frontline Engineer responsible for delivering services across additional equipment categories as well as to provide a new level of service for triaging, reducing turn-around times and decreasing costs.

Tasks

  • First Line Service support of small equipment
  • Managing reserve equipment and spare parts
  • Technical support to projects / service high end equipment
  • Coordination / administrative follow up when moving equipment
  • Calibrating LAF cabinets, centrifuges ...
  • Performing validations
  • Transfer of knowledge to end users around the function and optimal use of laboratory equipment.
  • Repair of vacuum pumps, etc

Profile

  • Minimum Secondary Education in electronics and electro-mechanics
  • Scientific laboratory experience
  • Detailed technical knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Good planner / organizer
  • Customer centric
  • Precise, accurate and able to work independently with attention to detail and safety
  • Good communication skills both oral and written
  • Flexible
  • Willing to work in P3 laboratory

Job-related Competencies

  • First line support service small equipment A, B (A: lab equipment without calibration and / or certification, B: lab equipment with calibration and / or certification)
  • Identify, troubleshoot and solution monitoring as well as guidance during deployment of external subcontractors
  • Restoring the system by replacing electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components and / or restore

  • Record/Document the follow-up data on interventions and pass the information on to the relevant department
  • Determine the needs for spare parts and consumables based on inventories and orders
  • Document when equipment received and the cost and time estimate for repair
  • Install automations, receptors, control circuits
  • Perform automation program inputs, reset or change the download to a PLC and control
  • Support systems remotely
  • Customer training/knowledge transfer
  • Carry out measurements (thermal, mechanical, electrical, magnetic, ...)
  • Working within the established SLA and meeting the following:
    • Response time
    • Downtime
    • First Time Fix
    • Activities planned
    • Participating in operational meetings
    • Technical support for projects

Required Studies:

Minimum of 2 Year Technical Degree in electronics and/or mechanics, preferably a bachelors in similar field with 3 or more years of experience in a lab or industry
