We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Vendor Managementto join our Enterprise Technology Team to drive PKI’s Technology Vendor Management practices:  orchestrating negotiations, management, and oversight of technology suppliers including software, infrastructure, and professional service providers.  In this role you will develop strong working relationships with business and technical leaders at all levels across the company and establish processes that optimize PKI’s vendor relationships and enable efficient operations. 

Responsibilities

Vendor Management

  • Establish and manage technical vendor strategies and management practices in alignment with IT leadership
  • Provides insight on current vendor relationships, including spending, relationship health and vendor performance, as well as providing mitigation options for any vendor-related issues and risks. they need to maximize productivity
  • Assesses vendor portfolio, current and potential uses, evaluates technical roadmap to identify future needs, and establishes strategies to optimize
  • Ensures that all IT Vendor Software License and Service Contracts are:
    • Managed centrally with clear responsibility
    • Aligned with the IT Vendor Strategy
    • Competitively negotiated and priced with proactively review, negotiation, and renewal
    • Appropriately consolidated, eliminating duplication across businesses and functions, maximizing scale and pricing discounts
    • Reviewed and trued-up annually in compliance with licensing terms
    • Business Reviewed on a Quarterly basis to monitor, measure, and ensure PKI receives expected service levels and performance
  • Takes the lead on defining approaches, responding, and negotiating to vendor audit requests
  • Drives annual planning of external costs with executive leaders for functional area, advising on trade-offs, informing budgets, contractual obligations, and opportunities.
  • Facilitates and maintains relationships between strategic vendors and internal resources, including technical and business stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Manages escalation and arbitration of relationship and operational issues
  • Leads vendor audit activities coordinating with functional leads and vendor owners as needed
  • Participates in the measuring of vendor performance and shares responsibility for the governance for vendors

Sourcing

  • Leads technical vendor sourcing, including: assessment, negotiation, selection and coordination of legal and info security review
  • Guide decisions on vendor selection and contractual arrangements for technical and business stakeholders, including new contracts and renewals.  Drives towards optimization of vendor relationships across PKI
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Sourcing and Legal to align and ensure best practices

Process

  • Defines, oversees, and drives adoption of standard practices for technical vendor management
  • Communicate and drive adoption of standard practices across vendor owners across PKI
  • Drives continue process improvements that increase operational efficiency, optimizes vendor relationships, and improves customer satisfaction for the vendor management function
  • Build and maintain an engagement model with technology stakeholders that is sustainable, clear and flexible.
  • Defines and manages processes to establish proper controls for technical vendor spend, performance & quality
  • Effectively works with other organizations across PKI to ensure process alignment and optimization, such as Legal and Enterprise Procurement

People Management

  • Direct, oversee, and develop vendor management staff; 3 direct reports, ensuring effective role optimization and efficient operations

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience working in a global organization managing vendors in a technology portfolio, procurement, business development or partner management capacity is required. Including experience working with geographically dispersed teams & customer base is desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex enterprise-wide contracts with demonstrated ability to assess common industry contract approaches, evaluate vendor performance, understand and reduce risk, and optimize spend.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship and interpersonal skills; Strong dispute resolution and mediation skills to handle issue escalation
  • Ability to work across a complex organization to create needed alignment and harness relationships and sphere of influence
  • Broad knowledge of the IT industry and the products and services provided by technology vendors is required
  • Experience working closely with senior executives, understanding priorities, what information is needed to support decisions and confidence in delivering presentations and advisement to senior leaders
  • Strong ability to communicate with technical and business leaders at all levels
  • Proven experience in successfully leading a team in the management of vendors/third parties, including, but not limited to, policies, performance, vendor risk, relationships, contracts (including negotiations), and issue and dispute resolution is required
  • Strong business acumen with ability to create and analyze cost benefit analysis proposals and advise business leaders, finance and procurement on strengths of various scenarios and manage trade-offs and risks to arrive at optimal outcome
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory and industry requirements is preferred
