This is a full-time salaried position with Project Farma, a PerkinElmer company. The successful candidate will reside in one of Project Farma's primary markets and be willing to travel domestically to meet client project requests.

The Project Controls - Director/Senior Director is a senior leader responsible for setting direction, driving execution, and delivering results across a function, portfolio, or business segment. This role provides strategic leadership, oversees multiple teams or initiatives, and partners cross-functionally to align people, processes, and priorities with company objectives. At more senior levels, this role is accountable for shaping strategy, leading leaders, and driving sustained business impact across a significant area of the organization, while influencing enterprise-level decisions, ensuring operational excellence, and developing leadership talent to balance short-term execution with long-term growth objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

PROJECT CONTROLS EXECUTION 

  • Provide expert analysis of complex project data and deliver clear, strategic insights that drive executive level decision‑making. 
  • Independently develop and oversee high-quality project controls deliverables, including reports, dashboards, and management summaries. 
  • Integrate and validate inputs from Project Coordinators, field teams, and cross functional stakeholders while maintaining full accountability for final project controls outputs. 
  • Communicate critical project information with clarity and urgency, ensuring field decisions are translated into long-range schedule, cost, and resource impacts. 
  • Offer hands-on technical support to clients navigating the engineering life cycle of advanced equipment and manufacturing systems. 
  • Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive project tools such as site level dashboards, integrated schedules, and deliverable tracking systems. 
  • Conduct rigorous due diligence and quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all project controls deliverables. 
  • Proactively identify risks, roadblocks, and performance gaps; escalate appropriately and apply advanced problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions. 
  • Continuously expand subject‑matter expertise across life sciences project controls, including: 
  • Capital project management (CAPEX) for new and existing facilities 
  • Facility shutdowns and turnarounds 
  • Technology transfers 
  • Enterprise system integrations 
  • Validation Life Cycle (CQV, PV, CSV) 
  • Quality, Regulatory, and Compliance frameworks 
  • GxP automated systems 
  • Quality Control (construction & commercial) 
  • Operational readiness and startup 

SCHEDULE, COST & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT 

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and governance of integrated project schedules, including baseline establishment, progress updates, and forward looking planning. 
  • Establish and refine methodologies for tracking installed quantities, productivity, and earned value to support accurate forecasting and performance measurement. 
  • Monitor cost performance, change impacts, and emerging trends in partnership with Project Managers to ensure financial alignment and predictability. 
  • Identify and challenge schedule and cost variances, assess risks and opportunities, and recommend actionable mitigation or recovery strategies. 

REPORTING & ANALYTICS 

  • Review, challenge, and enhance weekly, monthly, and ad hoc project controls reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and strategic value. 
  • Develop and maintain advanced dashboards and performance metrics aligned with project, program, and corporate reporting standards. 
  • Conduct deep‑dive analytics on schedule, cost, and performance data to support proactive, data‑driven decision-making. 

SYSTEMS, STANDARDS & DATA INTEGRITY 

  • Design, implement, and maintain project controls systems, coding structures, and standardized procedures to ensure consistency across the project lifecycle. 
  • Safeguard the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of all project controls data across systems and reporting platforms. 
  • Provide expert guidance to project teams on controls processes, data governance, and reporting requirements. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project controls workflows, reporting efficiency, and system utilization. 

STAKEHOLDER & TEAM LEADERSHIP 

  • Serve as a senior Subject Matter Expert, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and performance feedback to project controls personnel. 
  • Direct and coordinate project controls activities, defining required inputs, formats, and timelines to ensure alignment and quality. 
  • Review and validate Project Coordinator inputs—including quantities, progress updates, and documentation—prior to integration into project controls systems. 
  • Ensure accurate representation of field execution within project controls outputs through close collaboration with construction, engineering, and operations teams. 
  • Lead initiatives and project teams by establishing clear goals, managing priorities, and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables. 
  • Provide administrative leadership and oversight of the Project Controls team, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, career development, and completion of annual performance reviews. 
  • Maintain billable utilization by actively contributing to client projects while balancing team leadership responsibilities and ensuring successful project delivery. 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT 

  • Develop and execute strategies to strengthen and expand project controls service offerings, including planning, scheduling, estimating, risk management, and reporting. 
  • Represent the organization at industry events to promote capabilities and build market presence. 
  • Lead or contribute to thought leadership initiatives that advance project controls best practices. 
  • Build strong relationships with client leadership to identify opportunities for service expansion and value creation. 
  • Lead or support proposal development, including scope definition, resource planning, and cost forecasting. 
  • Actively support recruiting and talent development efforts to grow and enhance the project controls team. 

Experience Required 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (and/or Masters) in technical Sciences, Engineering, Regulatory or related discipline OR a combination of equivalent experience project controls, general construction, cGMP facility start-up, project management and/or comparable military experience.  
  • Years of Experience: 13-20+ years required 
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Project, Oracle Primavera P6, and/or Smartsheet a plus. 
  • Willingness to travel as required for client project assignments.

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $(172,000) to $(234,000). The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
