Purpose

PerkinElmer is seeking a Strategic Lead to drive commercial and sales initiatives within the India market. This role will be responsible for driving major operational improvement and growth initiatives in India. The individual will lead one or several workstreams on helping a focus country or region develop a robust sales / marketing strategy and deliver against it to help drive profitable growth. It is expected that this person will have a “T-shaped” expertise profile, with a deep knowledge and experience in one or multiple functional areas, and an ability to act as a versatile athlete across the full spectrum of business priorities. The role will require a driven and entrepreneurial mindset with a laser-like focus on execution focus. The successful candidate will work with minimal supervision to successfully drive the planning and implementation of improvements and help the organization bring these improvements over the finish line.

Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy & Management

  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize sales and business performance data to assess effectiveness, benchmark performance, identify trends, and establish improvement targets for India.

  • Identify growth opportunities and performance gaps through data-driven analysis and translate insights into actionable commercial and sales initiatives.

  • Develop and execute India sales strategies and initiatives to support achievement of annual revenue and profitability targets, in partnership with country leadership and relevant global stakeholders.

  • Partner closely with sales leaders and teams to drive execution against business plans, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and timely follow-through.

  • Establish and maintain robust tracking, reporting, and governance mechanisms to monitor sales performance, initiative progress, and business outcomes, enabling timely corrective actions.

  • Provide business leaders with actionable insights and recommendations to improve sales effectiveness, productivity, pipeline health, and overall commercial performance.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business and functional leaders, acting as a strategic partner in delivering performance objectives and sustainable growth.

Marketing & Business Development

  • Evaluate priority markets, customer segments, and sectors in India and assess market needs and opportunities against the company’s product and solution portfolio.

  • Conduct market, customer, competitor, and industry research to support business, marketing, and sales strategy development.

  • Develop and articulate clear product and solution value propositions, positioning, and go-to-market approaches aligned with market opportunities.

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through structured lead generation, market mapping, account prioritization, and opportunity assessment.

  • Develop business development strategies and plans to expand market presence, strengthen customer engagement, and support revenue growth.

  • Partner with marketing and commercial teams to develop and execute integrated marketing strategies and campaigns aligned with business priorities.

  • Track market developments and competitive intelligence and translate relevant insights into recommendations for India business strategy.

Sales Operations & Project Management

  • Coordinate across the Strategy Lead team, country leadership, sales organization, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive effective development and execution of sales and marketing strategies.

  • Establish operating cadences, governance forums, action trackers, and review mechanisms to ensure alignment, visibility, and execution discipline.

  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and other relevant functions to identify and resolve execution dependencies and ensure sales orders are delivered and recognized in line with business objectives.

  • Work closely with data analysts and relevant stakeholders to develop and deploy targeted pipeline, sales performance, forecasting, and business tracking tools.

  • Design and implement new processes, tools, and ways of working by combining structured problem-solving, data-driven insights, and functional expertise.

  • Frame strategic and operational decisions for senior leadership by developing fact-based analyses, options, recommendations, and implementation plans.

  • Develop clear workplans and execution roadmaps that prioritize the shortest path to business outcomes while identifying and mitigating key constraints and risks.

  • Mobilize and coordinate cross-functional resources required to deliver strategic priorities and business improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure effective project governance, stakeholder alignment, milestone tracking, and timely escalation of risks and issues.

Strategy Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development and execution of the India business strategy by translating organizational priorities into clear strategic initiatives, actions, and measurable outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve business performance, commercial effectiveness, customer coverage, productivity, and operational efficiency across India.

  • Lead structured problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives addressing key business challenges and growth opportunities.

  • Develop business cases and strategic recommendations for new markets, customer segments, products, channels, and commercial opportunities.

  • Partner with country and functional leadership to prioritize strategic initiatives based on business impact, feasibility, resources, and organizational priorities.

  • Establish mechanisms to measure the impact and sustainability of strategic initiatives and drive course correction where required.

  • Contribute to the professional development of the Strategy team through coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and creation of opportunities for broader ownership and leadership.

  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the India organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics or Finance (or a related field), or Engineering (with subsequent strong business experience).

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience, including at least 2-4 years of driving operational value creation initiatives with demonstrated bottom line impact.

  • Experience driving sales and marketing projects, including market and competitive analysis, customer segmentation, sales strategy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite.

  • Language: English. Additional languages a plus.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Sales operations preferred.

  • Strong experience in process execution across a variety of fields, including finance, logistics, professional services, or others.

  • Experience with a prominent consulting firm preferred.

  • Sales or technical sales experience, with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding a sales target.

  • Professional experience as part of the sales & marketing organization of a mid-cap ($1-5b revenue) company, preferably focused on analytical and scientific instruments, and/or laboratory environments and solutions.

  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization, e.g., PowerBI, Tableau.

  • Proficiency in CRM software (SalesForce) and sales tracking tools.

  • Ability to design, structure and deliver performance improvement initiatives with strong quantified effect on operational KPIs and verified bottom line impact.

  • Distinctive record of managerial and professional achievement and impact.

  • High ownership, strong motivation, low ego, no-nonsense attitude.

  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and projects.

  • Excellent prioritization skills and "nose for value" that focuses efforts on the highest ROI work.

  • Experience working in a PE-owned company as an employee or serving PE-owned companies as a consultant on value creation programs preferred.

  • Exposure to international cultures and ability to navigate and find common ground with different working styles.
