PerkinElmer is looking for a motivated, junior Application Specialist to accelerate growth of our Perten food analysis business. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to contribute on chemometric application work as well as sales support for the range of NIR and IR instruments in the food segment. As a company we aim to grow in the field of Process NIR measurement so experience in this field is beneficial.

This is an entry level role for a recent graduate who is interested in developing their Chemometrics expertise and supporting customers and colleagues around the world. You will be joining a very collaborative and supportive team of 8.

Responsibilities

Application Specialist: Help drive and support growth of our NIR instruments by developing and improving applications. Be a knowledge source for the product line applications and provide support and advice to the rest of the organization. Initiate calibration work, support, and lead application training to regional commercial teams. Test and validate new software, hardware features and solutions.

Application development: Be responsible for developing applications according to plan but also ad-hoc calibration for landing specific orders and contracts and improving performance for existing customers.

General support: Post- and pre-sales support including training our colleagues, customers and distributors.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other functions like R&D, Marketing, Product Management and Sales to drive application development. Support production for application related testing and trouble shooting.

Basic Qualifications

  • University degree in technical or scientific discipline eg chemistry, physics, computer science or mathematics with a course in chemometrics.
  • Knowledge within the field of chemometrics with the ability to understand the mathematical basis, software and statistics needed for modern application development in a global business.
  • Comfortable presenting technical and business content to large and small audiences
  • Fluent in English
  • Beneficial with experience in analytical equipment (NIR, IR, etc.), process analytics and food business including feed grain and dairy.
  • Beneficial with knowledge in python and chemometric software
  • Beneficial with good knowledge in Swedish but also other languages.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Analytical mindset – Ability to see the big picture and understand what is important. Analytical skills to be able to solve chemometric challenges based on data analytics. 
  • Open and communicative - Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and key external partners and customers.
  • Team player - Good at building relations and collaborating.
  • Results oriented – The goal is to have an impact and drive progress.
