The Advanced Research Group Leader will lead R&D activities focused on bringing new technologies and applications to the Vanadis cell-free DNA testing product line within PerkinElmer’s Diagnostics Segment. Responsibilities for the ARG Leader includes identifying new opportunities, developing product and technology roadmaps and lead the R&D teams executing on these initiatives. The role combines strong scientific and technology development leadership with excellent people management skills and strategic thinking to create an inspiring environment for development of innovative and high-quality products that exceeds customer expectations. The ARG Leader will establish, maintain and grow a team of multi-disciplinary R&D scientists working within sample preparation, molecular assay development, single-molecule imaging and data analysis. While most of the team sits co-located within the Sollentuna site location, this leader will work closely with global teammates to drive the overall growth of this segment within PerkinElmer.
Lead the Advanced Research Group in Sollentuna, Sweden, working on multiple parallel projects across several technical fields
In collaboration with business leadership, he/she will define the product and technology roadmap for the Vanadis cell-free DNA testing platform and conceive new product ideas based on technical and scientific advancements in the field.
Develop internal and external structures and teams to build a culture for development of innovative products that meet & exceed customer needs. This includes understanding the vast capabilities of PerkinElmer outside of our Vanadis site so that those can be utilized for Vanadis customers, where appropriate
Develop employees by providing scientific and technical mentorship. Support teams and projects with technical guidance when needed.
Participates as part of the Vanadis segment strategic leadership team.
Works cross-functionally and interacts globally with all business functions including product management, marketing, sales, service, operations, finance, and business-development in support of the new products.
Academic advancement: Develop & implement academic studies for existing & new products in support of business goals. Assist customers in publishing their data on the Vanadis platform
Hire, mentor, coach and develop talented R&D staff. Create a workplace culture that supports an employees’ engagement and retention.
Expand core domain competencies, with a focus on molecular technologies and its applications
PhD, or equivalent experience, in molecular biology or similar fields
Solid experience in R&D management of multidisciplinary teams on projects of high complexity
Strong communicator. Strong written & verbal communication skills in English (mandatory) and Swedish (beneficial). Ability to interact and engage across leadership teams within the function and beyond.
Experience developing new technologies and assays into commercial products
Data driven and structured thinker with strong analytical and planning skills
Desire and commitment to combine the interests of our customers, our team and our company into strategies, R&D projects and products that makes a real impact
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills. Encourages the expression of diverse ideas and opinions, respecting individuals. Navigates cultural differences well and can drive solutions across the enterprise.

Deep knowledge of cell-free DNA testing field, rolling circle replication technology, NGS and related technologies
Experience in prenatal testing or oncology clinical research fields
Experience writing and publishing research papers
Experience with giving scientific presentations at professional society symposia
Experience working with clinical molecular laboratories
