We are looking for a Technical Lab Services Leader to join our OneSource team in Stevenage.

Job Responsibilities:

Customer Support

  • Work with the customer and PerkinElmer staff to ensure quality and compliance of work and activities carried out within the laboratory.

  • The leader will also interface with key customer contacts to ensure KPIs are being met, and customer satisfaction is at a high level.

  • Work in collaboration with customer line safety reps to ensure a high level of safety is maintained in the lab.

  • Meet regularly with key stakeholders (lab staff, service providers, management) to identify, review and resolve issues in a timely manner and/or escalate as necessary.

  • Attend floor/building oversight meetings.

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for all TLS activities.

  • Support customer desired growth by identifying activities in which we can provide additional services, working with all critical PerkinElmer and customer team members and following proper approval processes.

Leadership

  • Mentor and train staff at client location regarding best-in-class customer support, follow-up communication and specific laboratory support skills to drive growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with senior management to drive talent development, overall business performance, and succession planning.

  • Assist in the recruitment process of suitable personnel into the TLS team, to carry out induction and training.

  • Ensure team procedures are performed within the confines of the relevant safety regulations.

  • Assist in the generation of SOPs/work instructions/local method statements/risk assessments where necessary. Ascertain any relevant quality, skill, or safety requirements.

  • Ensure team compliance with all relevant working instructions, SOPs, and safety instructions.

  • Address disciplinary and/or performance problems, when necessary, in accordance with company policy.

  • Escalate business development opportunities to senior management through engagement with key collaborators and stakeholders.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of data including performance metrics.

  • Understanding of standard software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to operate within company and/or customer site safety codes of practice.

Basic Qualifications

  • BSc or equivalent in a relevant scientific subject (e.g. Biology, Life Sciences or Chemistry disciplines), with relevant laboratory experience.

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated technical expertise in performing a variety of laboratory bioassays using manual and automated techniques.

  • 3-5 years’ experience of leading teams, delivering training, or coaching and mentoring staff in an industry setting.

  • Knowledgeable in good laboratory practices (GLP) and good laboratory safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate qualification in a relevant scientific subject (e.g. Biology, Life Sciences or Chemistry disciplines).

  • Computational skills preferred for enabling automated data acquisition and analysis, and familiarity with related data analysis applications.

  • Knowledge of GCP, GCLP and GMP principles in the pharmaceutical environment.

  • Knowledge of 5S and/or 6 sigma principles is a plus.
