We are looking for highly motivated candidate for the role of Analytical Lab Technician to support the PerkinElmer OneSource Scientific Services within the customer’s CMC Analytical group.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for

  • Assist in the qualification and management of GMP Analytical Equipment
  • Routine analysis of samples using analytical chemistry techniques
  • Assisting in the day to day operational management of a defined set of laboratories
  • Providing support in areas such as health and safety and quality compliance, monitoring and maintenance of equipment and laboratory resources
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all research staff to deal with problems within the laboratories especially focusing on asset management.

This role will report into the General/Technical Lab Services GLS/TLS Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Collate metrics to show the performance of the group
  • Expand and develop the support to new analytical areas
  • To share the success of the team and the support provided
  • To complete the qualification of analytical equipment to GMP regulations and to co-ordinate this with validation specialists, QA, vendors and equipment support providers
  • To complete GMP Change Controls for the relocation and decommission of analytical equipment
  • Assist in the maintenance of the operational efficiency of the laboratory space and equipment and co-ordinate service and calibration schedules with minimal impact to the customer’s operations
  • Assist in the completion of Work Instructions to deliver a standardised level of support
  • Manage process improvements and projects within the customer’s work space
  • Works with suppliers to investigate deviations from SLAs by route cause analysis and report back findings and plans to customers
  • Performs specialist equipment user performance checks and acts as the System Owner of defined instruments
  • Preparation of GMP reagents
  • Complete Shipping documentation and sub-sample bulk samples for shipment to global GSK sites
  • Ad-hoc purchasing of chemicals and equipment
  • Proactively identifies and implements efficiency and process improvements
  • Builds relationships with customer and service provider organisation to provide a collaborative approach to the operational management of the lab space
  • Collates metrics for KPIs, relevant metrics, SLAs and weekly tasks
  • Agreed tasks identified by the customer that would support the growth and development of the service provided

Qualifications/Personal Qualities

  • Knowledge of GxP principles is preferable
  • Excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
  • Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and ability to make clear decisions and good organisational skills
  • Experience of project management and lean process skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other support teams
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment ideally
  • Experience working with health and safety procedures
  • Educated to degree level with laboratory experience in a relevant scientific discipline and knowledge in the use of analytical equipment would be advantageous
  • Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the team members. Ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable with and a clear attention to detail
  • Computer literacy and able to communicate using various platforms

Physical/Mental Demands

The overall physical exertion of this position requires:

  • Sit or stand 3-4 hours a day in laboratory areas
  • Sit or stand 3-4 hours a day in office area at provided PC/Laptop
  • Work around moving laboratory equipment and machinery and in modern office arenas, undertaking a number of different problems and tasks
  • Use of personal protective equipment in laboratory
  • Work with laboratory chemicals and samples
