Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand, synthesize, and coherently evaluate complex genetic information
  • Support clinical genomics team in evaluating relevance of genes to human disease 
  • Project based work supporting clinical genomics team which includes tasks such as researching gene/disease specific guidelines and preparation material to support clinical genomics test offerings
  • Liaison between sales team/customers and clinical reporting team to improve clinical testing offerings and reporting improvements
  • Prepare, edit, and finalize clinical documents, such as material for clinical reporting, abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Work with a team to ensure clinical documents accurately reflect the internal data and other information sources
  • Additional tasks as required

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or M.Sc. (or M.D./D.O.) in genetics, genetic counseling, or a related field

Experience in a CLIA diagnostic laboratory, familiarity with next-generation sequencing, and/or knowledge of advanced methods of copy number detection is preferred, but not required.

  • Excellent initiative and organizational skills to prioritize complex tasks, projects, and workflow, and use independent judgment to make decisions regarding operations and deadlines
  • Proven ability to critically read and interpret scientific literature 
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex information in brief but clear summary 
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude 
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
