The R&D Strategic Partner will lead R&D activities focused on developing new technologies and applications in the LC Column product line within PerkinElmer’s Consumables business unit which lies within the Analytical Division.

The R&D Strategic Partner will establish, lead, and maintain multidisciplinary research projects with the aim of developing proof-of-concept applications and products. This leader will work closely with global teammates to drive the overall growth of this segment within PerkinElmer.  Responsibilities for this role includes identifying new opportunities, developing product and technology roadmaps, and leading the execution on these initiatives. They will also be responsible for contacts with, and assembly of information from key opinion leaders and stakeholders. The role combines strong scientific and technology development, excellent people management skills and strategic thinking to create an inspiring environment for development of innovative and high-quality products that exceeds customer expectations.

This position can be located at our Shelton, CT location or West Berlin, New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with business leadership the incumbent will define the product and technology roadmap for LC column platform and conceive new product ideas based on technical and scientific advancements in the field.

  • Retrieve and assemble information about potential applications in priority segments of pharma, biopharma and food from internal and external experts.

  • The Incumbent will be the Subject Matter Expert for the team providing scientific and technical mentorship. Provide support to project teams with technical guidance as needed.

  • Works’ cross-functionally and interacts globally with all business functions including product management, marketing, sales, service, operations, finance, and business-development in support of the new products.

  • Academic advancement: Develop & implement academic studies for existing & new products in support of business goals. Assist customers in publishing their data on the PKI LC columns platform.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD, 3+ years of experience in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and understanding of analytical chemistry.

Or

  • Master’s degree and 5+ years of experience in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and understanding of analytical chemistry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid experience in R&D, product development and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on projects of high complexity

  • Strong communicator; strong written & verbal communication skills. Ability to interact and engage across leadership teams within the function and beyond.

  • Experience developing new technologies and assays into commercial products

  • Experience in identifying and working on clinical applications based on molecular technologies

  • Data driven and structured thinker with strong analytical and planning skills

  • Desire and commitment to combine the interests of our customers, our team and our company into strategies, R&D projects and products that makes a real impact

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills. Encourages the expression of diverse ideas and opinions, respecting individuals.

  • Displays a high degree of emotional intelligence, leads through influence, displays humility, and puts mission and team before self

  • Deep knowledge of liquid chromatography and related technologies

  • Experience with giving scientific presentations at professional society symposia

  • Experience working within analytical testing laboratories
