PerkinElmer is seeking a proactive, analytical, and collaborative Scientific Asset Management Engineer to support the lifecycle and performance of scientific and operational instrumentation at AstraZeneca Gothenburg. In this position, you will contribute to the end‑to‑end lifecycle management of scientific instruments, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively. You will work closely with laboratory Scientists, Operations, EHS, Procurement, Finance, and local Centers of Excellence to secure asset reliability and compliance across a world-class R&D environment.
What You Will Do
Drive Reliability & Maintenance Excellence
- Monitor and act on chronic underperforming equipment (“bad actors”).
- Lead technical Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and drive corrective/preventive actions.
- Reduce repair times (MTTR) by working with vendors, planners, and internal teams.
- Prepare data, KPIs, and insights to support reliability reporting and decision-making.
Lead Lifecycle Asset Management (LCAM) Reviews
- Plan, facilitate, and document LCAM reviews for different instrument categories.
- Manage follow-up actions, remove non-preferred equipment, and support portfolio optimization.
- Coordinate spare-part strategies for critical scientific assets.
Develop Smart Service & Maintenance Strategies
- Define maintenance and calibration plans (PM01/PM02/PM05).
- Recommend appropriate service entitlements and ensure they deliver value.
- Support vendor management and manage-to-maintain (M2M) processes.
- Identify training and competence needs to ensure safe and proper maintenance execution.
Support Capital Investment Decisions
- Contribute data for Capital Expenditure cases.
- Support wave analyses and risk-based replacement proposals.
- Ensure successful implementation, decommissioning, and master data updates.
- Implement Run-to-Fail agreements where appropriate.
Enable Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with local Centers of Excellence.
- Manage End-of-Life notifications and obsolescence planning.
- Support inventory accuracy and annual criticality reviews.
- Champion innovation tracking and maintain accurate ownership records.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Reliability, or related) or a related scientific/laboratory engineering field.
- 5+ years’ experience with laboratory assets as user, or experience in asset management, reliability, or maintenance engineering.
- Practical experience with RCAs, LCAM reviews, and instrument portfolio optimization.
- Proficiency with CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., SAP PM).
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with maintenance & cost data (MTBF/MTTR/KPIs).
- Understanding of ISO 55000 principles, GxP/cGMP and EHS standards.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering experience with scientific laboratory instruments (GLE/ALE).
- Advanced skills in data preparation and analysis.
- Certifications such as CMRP/CMRT, IAM Cert/Dip, Six Sigma, or PMP.
