The Chief Accountant (General Ledger) will be responsible for US GAAP and local accounting, with a focus on Poland, including financial reporting, process oversight, and compliance activities. This role involves ownership of key finance functions related to statutory reporting, tax declarations, Intrastat, and other regulatory reports. You will collaborate closely with local business units and internal stakeholders to ensure all financial operations align with corporate policies and compliance standards.

A strong understanding of tax regulations, combined with analytical and problem-solving skills, will be essential to ensure accurate reporting and full regulatory compliance.

Hybrid working model (3 days from the office)

Responsabilities:

  • Lead the preparation of month-end financial statements according to US GAAP and local statutory requirements, applying in-depth knowledge and experience to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Oversee the month- and year-end closings with precision, meticulously reconciling balance sheet and profit and loss accounts to achieve a flawless financial record.

  • Utilize your expert skills to analyze and reconcile all accounts within agreed-upon deadlines, demonstrating an exceptional level of attention to detail.

  • Execute the timely and accurate preparation and processing of intricate accounting documents such as accruals, prepaid expenses, deferred tax calculations, and revenue recognition, leveraging your comprehensive knowledge in these areas.

  • Manage payroll booking with a keen eye for detail, utilizing external data provided by an outsourced company and ensuring payroll processes are executed flawlessly.

  • Collaborate with consultants to lead the preparation of monthly and annual tax declarations, including CIT, VAT, Treasury, and Statistical reports/declarations. Your in-depth understanding of tax regulations and problem-solving skills will be crucial in achieving compliance.

  • Collaborate with consultants to lead the preparation of statutory financial statement.

  • Proactively provide expert support for both internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are in impeccable order. You'll also assist in gathering necessary documents for audit requirements.

  • Independently handle the preparation of all statistical reports such as: Intrastat declarations, NBP/nGUS forms.

  • Work closely with the team on monthly and quarterly deliverables, contributing your extensive knowledge to ensure these tasks are completed accurately and on time

  • Independently liaising with external tax auditors and tax advisors to achieve compliance to local tax requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in accounting or finance or an equivalent combination of education and relevant financial experience.

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Finance/Accounting with focus on GL processes with a track record of graduated and scalable success.

  • Proficiency in financial reporting in PL GAAP.

  • Demonstrated experience in month end closing and maintaining ledger independently.

  • Demonstrated VAT/tax capabilities as well as statutory returns experience.

  • Proficiency in financial reporting; US GAAP knowledge will be considered a plus.

  • Fluent in English (at least B2 level).

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion.

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.

  • Fiscal proven experience to be ready to support EU (Intra/EC List/etc.) declarations.

  • Process driven and organized, with sufficient flexibility to accommodate ad hoc requests.

  • Good written and verbal communications skills.

  • Strong proficiency with financial systems and applications; Advanced skills in Excel and MS Office applications.

  • Experience working in a global team.
