Nexcelom Bioscience LLC is a developer and marketer of image cytometry products for cell analysis in life science and biomedical research. Products range from cell viability counters (Cellometer) to high throughput microwell image cytometry workstations (Celigo), used in thousands of research laboratories in academic institutes and biotech companies. The HR Generalist is a key member of the HR team supporting specific projects and providing operational, analytical, compliance and tactical services. The HR Generalist will provide support managers, individual contributors, and other entities. The scope of this role spans a broad range of work, including but not limited to talent management, workforce planning, compliance, organization structure, employee engagement and development, total rewards, and employee relations.


  • Support HR in all tactical activities related to employees, compliance, talent acquisition, and specific projects providing operational and tactical services.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with HR Coordinator, and departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and other business content in support of HR infrastructure. 
  • Supports managers and employees through coaching on a variety of employee relations issues, policy or benefits questions.
  • Provide clear and accurate advice in a timely manner.
  • Create and implement talent management initiatives including performance evaluations, talent reviews, succession planning, leadership development.
  • Capture / manage an overall list of current and potential HR projects. 
  • Provide an HR team with data analysis, tracking and reporting. 
  • Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs.
  • Perform audits and maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to all EEO and other regulations as required.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or relevant experience.
  • 3+  years of Human Resource Generalist experience
  • 1 year of HRIS Experience


  • Ability to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
