Accurately translate stated internal and external (customer) requirements into a concept and ultimately detailed design using 3D CAD tools.
Prepare design documents to describe the designed components allowing the procurement or manufacture of the component.
Work within a team to help guide the work of others: organize, set priorities, schedule, and review work.
Test, troubleshoot, and provide solutions to technical problems with preventative measures.
Create project plans and other project-related documentation that covers complementary deliverables alongside the Engineering output.
Regular reviews with peers and stakeholders to ensure the scope and direction of the tasked project is on schedule.
Ability to interface with the customer/vendor for all technical aspects of a project.
Motivated self-starter that pro-actively identifies areas of need and improvement.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Collaborative and team-based approaches to problem-solving, with an emphasis on strategic planning.
Detail-oriented approach to design, including BOM and drawing accuracy.
Proficient at reading and interpreting technical documentation.
Problems are broad, complex, and abstract, often involving company-wide issues. Must develop solutions using substantial creativity, resourcefulness, innovation, negotiation, and diplomacy.
Good interpersonal skills with an emphasis on strong internal customer support.
Basic Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree (ME/MET) with 5+ years of mechanical or product design experience of life science equipment or medical devices.
Lead and participate in design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
Manage subordinates through engineering and procurement to ensure that program goals and delivery deadlines are met.
Experience in both product design and manufacturing (tooling and fixtures) environments.
CAD design of mechanical systems in SolidWorks (v2015 or newer).
Experience with Standard EN 61010 or equivalent
Experience in a design and manufacturing environment certified to ISO 9001 / ISO 13485.
Preferred Qualification:
Ability to translate client requests into existing systems at optimal cost and time targets.
Knowledge of vibration, temperature, and shock testing.Familiar with GD & T practices.
Technical understanding of various automation and electro-mechanical systems.
Knowledge of laboratory practices and equipment.
Experience with small brushless AC/DC motors.
Experience with PLCs and related software systems.
Basic programming knowledge as it pertains to automation and systems integration.
Understanding of electronic document control systems (PDM).
