The Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering will lead a team of engineers that will be responsible for the development and upkeep of the plant’s facilities and machinery.  Responsibilities include evaluating new processes, machinery and workflow systems to optimize plant efficiency; applying automation and computerized technologies to manufacturing processes and systems; investigating and initiating corrective action on manufacturing problems; reviewing, evaluating and implementing engineering changes and specification requirements; and acting as technical liaison with production planning and engineering teams.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing and leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers
    • Providing leadership to a team of professionals, including assigning responsibilities; hiring, training, motivating and coaching employees as they provide attentive, efficient service to customers; assessing and recommending appropriate staffing levels and employee performance; and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities
  • CI/LEAN leader responsibilities:
    • Having overall responsibility for process performance improvement of the products (e.g. throughput time, work in process inventory, labor hours/instrument, rework hrs., etc.), product lines and/or central processing areas assigned
    • Designing, developing and implementing cell level operating metrics that enable daily performance tracking, daily management and daily improvement 
    • Leading and coaching shop floor managers, supervisors and lead persons in the process of improving performance. 
  • Other responsibilities:
    • Reviewing production information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services, including but not limited to production schedules, process flows and engineering specifications.
    • Designing control systems to minimize and resolve production issues and project costs
    • Creating systems and planning production to ensure all products meet quality control standards
    • Developing standards for production and design by working with other functions and management
    • Designing, developing, implementing and improving the processes that drive/influence key financial metrics for the areas supported 
    • Validating, maintenance and adjustments to standard cost to ensure standard costs are accurately represented to the business.
    • Working with Operations leaders, Materials leaders (planning and procurement), warehouse, engineering, suppliers, etc. to implement appropriate materials strategies for different types of material consumption patterns
    • Completing other tasks and projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years of engineering manufacturing management/supervisory experience in complex manufacturing environment  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have working and practical knowledge of Enterprise Resource Systems (ERP) such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc. and bills of materials, standard costing, shop floor operations and cost accounting fundamentals.  
  • Knowledge of production processes, costs, quality control, raw materials and other methods for maximizing the efficient manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Master’s Degree considered as an advantage 
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams comprised of R&D, junior engineers, quality engineers, sourcing, purchasing, production planning, and assembly & test technicians  
  • Proven leadership and demonstrated working knowledge of LEAN and the use of LEAN thinking to run, manage and lead a production team to improve operational and financial performance. 
  • Advanced knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to design and understand precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Knowledge of the ways various systems interact and how they drive changes in operations, the environment, and other conditions that affect outcomes.
  • Hands-on Knowledge and experience in ProE/AutoCAD/Solid Works, Microsoft Project, and VISIO are required
  • Quality system knowledge (ISO9001 and ISO13485) and experience in regulated, preferably medical device manufacturing
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills in presenting to one’s peer group and executive leadership team on a regular basis

  • May be required to stand or sit for several hours at a time
  • May be required to lift to 50lbs
