Responsibilities:

  • Be the technical lead for multiple projects developing complex systems involving hardware, software, firmware, consumables, and assays
  • Owns system trade space by carefully defining interface product specifications
  • Build a world-class Systems Engineering team at the Hopkinton site
  • Supervise and mentor junior level team members in a matrixed R&D
  • organization
  • Implement Agile methodology and rhythm for R&D team using SMART objectives and Agile boards for day-to-day operations
  • Accountable for R&D DHF deliverables according to PerkinElmer Design Control Process following ISO 13485 regulatory standard (product requirement specifications, technical feasibility plan/report, risk control record)
  • Hands-on involvement in all phases of product development, including concept, planning, development and validation
  • Present experimental findings and interpretations to R&D team members, cross-functional leaders, and senior management.
  • Lead root causing activities to identify and alleviate roadblocks, to optimize applications and products
  • Partner with business to define system architecture during concept phase
  • Manage projects as needed responsible for design development plan

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D., MS respectively, in relevant engineering field (electrical, mechanical, chemical, bio-engineering, physics or similar) with > 7 years, >10 years respectively, of industrial experience in life science / molecular diagnostics field
  • Track record of in-depth understanding of liquid handling automation technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in molecular biology

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in RUO product launch (IVD a plus)
  • Great command of design of experiment
  • Excellent knowledge in optics
  • Certification of Agile training preferred
  • Certification of MS-Project training preferred
  • Experience in requirement management tool (JIRA, Polarion, Doors) preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, self-starter
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast pace environment.
