Responsible for the in vivo imaging research procedures and techniques to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on potential new or improved products. Through laboratory research, will be a key contributor to preclinical studies to advance ultrasound, optical, and/or microCT imaging of disease, toxicology, inflammation and immunology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fill a complex, key in vivo research role involving collaboration with other R&D Scientists to generate in vivo mouse and rat research datasets.
Willingness to handle small animal subjects (rodent dosing, tissue and blood collection).
Use and master different modalities of preclinical imaging, including ultrasound, optical, and microCT imaging.
Review in vivo study protocols with supervisor, obtain copies of all records associated with the animals in a given study (including animal health reports, cage records, etc.). Responsibility for data collection and accurate record keeping.
Handle research animals for the purpose of administering oral, IP, IV, or SQ administrations of research substances.
Document procedures and routine measurements (weight, health status, etc) as required.
Collection of blood or urine from live rodents. Collection of tissues by necropsy. Processing tissue as necessary.
Accountable for meeting scheduled completion dates and for providing timely feedback to supervisor when dates cannot be met.
Occasional weekend work as needed.
Requires a BS degree in Biology, Pharmacology or related field.
6+ months using general laboratory techniques. (Either educational or work related)
1+ years experience of hands-on animal handling experience (rodent dosing, tissue and blood collection).
1+ years of experience with aseptic techniques involving mammalian cell culture.
Experience in ultrasound, optical, or microCT imaging modalities.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, with excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow supervisors directions in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects with evolving priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills.
