Perkinelmer is seeking an associate manufacturing process engineer as we grow and strengthen our engineering team to support significant investments in our high-volume microfluidic device fabrication facility in Hopkinton, MA. This role will provide direct engineering support, as well as product and process expertise to our manufacturing team. The role will also be responsible for identifying and executing on improvements to the production process, as well as defining and executing on key activities relating to NPI’s and qualification of new production equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintain detailed, technical expertise on the fabrication process for a variety of related microfluidic devices.
- Provides regular hands-on support to the production team to ensure adequate training, process adherence, and to ensure non-conformities are quickly identified and eliminated.
- Identifies and executes on opportunities for process improvement to ensure highest yield, quality, and throughput at lowest cost.
- Develops and executes Process Qualification plans for new equipment and products.
- Identifies and executes on all design transfer activities and requirements for NPI’s
- Regularly work in Class 1000 & 100 cleanroom environments.
- Occasionally directly support production when required.
- Adhere to all clean room and safety requirements
- Maintains industry standard of good documentation practices

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemistry or Physics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred
- Experience with 2D and 3D CAD (Solidworks or AutoCAD preferred)
- Able to prioritize multiple activities appropriately. Recognizes when priorities need to adjust as is common in a manufacturing environment and reacts accordingly.
- Motivated to learn new technologies, equipment, and processes.
- Great Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Clean room experience
- Familiar with microfabrication, especially semi-con or similar photolithographic fabrication processes- Particularly photo, etch, bonding, dicing, and mounting operations.
- Experience with product, process, and equipment validation
- Experience with development of custom automation equipment
- Ability to multitask with high attention to detail
- Experience writing code/automation scripts (VBA for excel is a plus)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving skills/processes (e.g. process FMEA, DMAIC, 5 why’s etc.)
Physical Requirements (if applicable):
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 4 hours at a time
- Ability to lift up to 10lbs and push/pull up to 20 pounds
