Mass Spectrometry is one of the fastest growing analytical technologies in science today. The application of mass spectrometry to the topical area of Cannabis regulation is a key regulatory technology to satisfy approval. This role forms part of a significant strategic investment by PerkinElmer to maintain its market leadership position, by developing novel methodologies to meet the legislative standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to capture customers and legislative needs and design application development strategy to address those needs.
Drive execution of novel turn-key applications development
Generate verified and validated methods and translate these to impactful marketing content (application notes, posters, and/or peer reviewed publications)
Support our valued customers in the implementation of methods and troubleshoot their challenges.
Act as a subject matter expert and influencer to the R&D organization during implementation and conceptualization of new product.
Evaluate competitive publications and presentations and come up with a clear strategy to demonstrate PerkinElmer’s competitive edge.
Demonstrate independent and creative scientific thinking, ability in solving complex problems, and resilience to setbacks and changes.
Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, identify maintenance needs and ensure equipment is operational.
All successful applicants will be required to meet a background check & training program that includes job specific training on proper handling of cannabis products. Training will be required to be maintained annually for compliance with the Cannabis Control Commission.
Note: This role will have a period of travel and remote training at the beginning to become trained and assist in the development of commercialization path for future application development and business.
Master’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry
0-2 years experience with mass spectrometer theory and components.
0-2 years of hands on experience with LC-MSMS system.
3+ years of experience with LC-MSMS Systems
Knowledge of mass spectrometer theory and components is a must.
Ability to troubleshoot LC-MSMS related issues.
Experience in cannabis, food, environmental applications of mass spec is preferred.
Experience working with federal agency requirements e.g. EPA or FDA a plus
Ability to dissect problems and projects into manageable tasks.
Passionate about working in a lab developing applications to address customer needs.
Excellent group interaction skills and negotiating skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities.
Excellent presentation skills in front of internal teams, customers, and large audience (during conferences).
