Mass Spectrometry is one of the fastest growing analytical technologies in science today. The application of mass spectrometry to the topical area of Cannabis regulation is a key regulatory technology to satisfy approval. This role forms part of a significant strategic investment by PerkinElmer to maintain its market leadership position, by developing novel methodologies to meet the legislative standards.

  • Ability to capture customers and legislative needs and design application development strategy to address those needs.

  • Drive execution of novel turn-key applications development

  • Generate verified and validated methods and translate these to impactful marketing content (application notes, posters, and/or peer reviewed publications)

  • Support our valued customers in the implementation of methods and troubleshoot their challenges.

  • Act as a subject matter expert and influencer to the R&D organization during implementation and conceptualization of new product.

  • Evaluate competitive publications and presentations and come up with a clear strategy to demonstrate PerkinElmer’s competitive edge.

  • Demonstrate independent and creative scientific thinking, ability in solving complex problems, and resilience to setbacks and changes.

  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, identify maintenance needs and ensure equipment is operational.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry

  • 2 years experience with GC and GC/MS Systems

All successful applicants will be required to meet a background check & training program that includes job specific training on proper handling of cannabis products. Training will be required to be maintained annually for compliance with the Cannabis Control Commission.

Note: This role will have a period of travel and remote training at the beginning to become trained and assist in the development of commercialization path for future application development and business​.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with GC-MS Systems

  • Knowledge of mass spectrometer theory and components is a must.

  • Ability to troubleshoot GC-MS related issues.

  • Experience in cannabis, food, environmental applications of mass spec is preferred.

  • Experience working with federal agency requirements e.g. EPA or FDA a plus

  • Ability to dissect problems and projects into manageable tasks.

  • Passionate about working in a lab developing applications to address customer needs.

  • Excellent group interaction skills and negotiating skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities.

  • Excellent presentation skills in front of internal teams, customers, and large audience (during conferences).
