Purpose
This role is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and direction for the Material Characterization product line. The role involves ensuring alignment with overall business objectives, gathering customer insights, prioritizing product requirements, and guiding product development through the entire product life cycle from concept to end of life.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy:
Define short and long-term product strategies to drive growth, profitability, and market share.
Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
Product Roadmap:
Collaborate cross-functionally (R&D, Strategic Marketing, Sales, and customer support) to create and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap. Prioritize tradeoffs between new product development and sustaining engineering based on customer needs, market demand, and financial impact.
Product Development:
Initiate product development through the definition of product concept and generation of business case
Develop the business case in collaboration with commercial leadership and delivery of customer value throughout the NPI
Provide initiation to move towards gate progression and leadership approval
Guide product development efforts, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality successful products
Customer Insights:
Conduct market research to understand customer pain points, needs, and preferences related to the products
Collect and analyze data from customer feedback, surveys, and market trends.
Translate insights into actionable product improvements and innovations.
Product support and quality:
Manage the resolution of product quality issues within production, customer, and service escalation.
Financial Management:
Manage the financial performance of the Product Portfolio, including cost, capacity planning for production, setting global base price, monitoring price performance, and ensuring profitability.
Sourcing & Procurement:
Work with procurement team to help source suppliers, set product requirements, support negotiations, manage vendors, and drive cost improvement.
Product Commercial Strategy:
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create effective go-to-market plans.
Develop pricing strategies, product positioning, and support marketing with product messaging.
Lead New Product launch team, define launch strategy, create sales training and support marketing promotional and lead generation
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline).
- Proven experience in product management, preferably in analytical instrumentation or scientific equipment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to balance technical expertise with business acumen.
Preferred Characteristics
- Strong track record in product management in a scientific company.
- Technical experience preferred but not required.
- Experience Analytical Spectroscopy equipment in the areas of Thermal, Ultraviolet, and Infrared preferred but not required.
