Operations Product Manager - UV
| Job ID | REQ-058364 |
| Location | High Wycombe, England |
| Job Type | Regular |
Purpose
PerkinElmer is seeking an Operations Product Manager- UV to support the ongoing execution of the product portfolio for an assigned analytical instrument product line. This role exists to ensure that the Strategic Product Manager and NPI Product Managers are free to focus on strategy, market development, and new product introduction — by providing dedicated ownership of the day-to-day operational product management work that keeps the existing portfolio running smoothly and competitively.
The Operations Product Manager is a junior-to-mid-career product management role, working under the direction of the Strategic PM or VP Product Line. Their scope is defined and delegated — they are not expected to set portfolio strategy or own roadmap decisions, but they are expected to execute with discipline, escalate intelligently, and develop toward broader product management responsibility over time.
We are offering a hybrid working contract split between home and our offices in High Wycombe.
Responsibilities
SKU & Lifecycle Management
- Maintain the UV product line's SKU catalogue — adding new configurations, managing change notifications, and retiring discontinued products in coordination with Operations and Supply Chain
- Support UV product lifecycle decisions (introduce, sustain, end-of-life) by preparing the operational analysis that informs the Strategic PM's recommendations to the VP
- Own end-of-life communications and phase-out execution for discontinued products — coordinating inventory rundown, customer notification, and field communication
- Maintain accurate product documentation — specifications, compatibility matrices, regional configuration guides — as the product line evolves through sustaining changes
Pricing Administration
- Administer and maintain the product line price book — updating pricing in systems, managing price exception tracking, and preparing periodic price review data for the Strategic PM's approval
- Support periodic list price review cycles: gathering competitive pricing data, preparing margin analysis, and coordinating system updates following approved changes
- Process special pricing requests within delegated authority limits; escalate above-threshold requests to the Strategic PM with supporting data
Quality & Supply Chain Support
- Serve as the first point of triage for field quality escalations and supply chain issues — gathering information, routing to the appropriate owner (Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain), and tracking resolution to closure
- Maintain live escalation tracker for the product line; provide regular status updates to the Strategic PM and VP Product Line
- Coordinate with Operations and Supply Chain on parts availability, lead times, and backlog — communicating timeline impacts to commercial stakeholders
Commercial Operations Support
- Support the sales organisation with product configuration guidance, compatibility questions, and order-specific queries that require product management input
- Maintain and update competitive comparison resources, product FAQs, and technical specification sheets as product and competitive information evolves
- Track key product line KPIs — order intake, backlog, inventory, and field feedback — and provide regular reporting to the Strategic PM
- Support NPI launches with operational readiness tasks: SAP setup, price book entry, configuration guide development, and sales team resource publication
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 2–7 years of experience in product management, technical marketing, product operations, or a closely related commercial or operational role within scientific instrumentation, analytical instruments, or laboratory equipment
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management concepts: SKU management, pricing administration, and product change management
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail — able to manage multiple concurrent operational workstreams without losing accuracy or follow-through
- Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and commercial teams in a matrixed organisation
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) for product data management, pricing, and order management
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
- Understanding of UV technology
Preferred
- Scientific or technical degree with hands-on laboratory experience — providing the technical grounding to understand product specifications and customer application context
- Experience supporting a product launch in a product management or technical marketing capacity — familiarity with launch readiness tasks and go-to-market execution
- Familiarity with analytical instrument categories relevant to the product line: atomic spectroscopy, chromatography, or materials characterisation
