Senior Specialist, International Trade Compliance – Southeast Asia

Responsibilities
Location Gelang Patah, JohorMY Job ID REQ-055876Operational Execution & Risk Management
- Is 1st line of contact for Trade Compliance authorities
- Manage the full cycle of export/import licences and permits in Malaysia, in particular within the Johor Free Trade Zone
- Implement the import/export clearance procedures on the ground
- Secure cross-border daily movements
- Is 2nd line of contact for customs brokers to resolve border clearance issues
- Is able to support with HTS, ECCN, SPL and CoO activities as regional back-up for the Global Delivery Center
- Monitor border financials (duties, VAT, indirect taxes)
- Secure record keeping of import/export package
- Manage customs brokers’ performance on a monthly basis
Compliance Deployment & Regulatory Expertise
- Monitor and interpret Malaysian and Singapore trade regulations, ensuring timely updates to internal stakeholders.
- Deploy compliance with import/export laws, including classification, valuation, origin determination, export controls and sanctions.
- Drive local audit preparations, regulatory responses, and corrective/preventive action plans (CAPAs) with oversight from ITC APAC Lead
- Support the ITC APAC Lead with specific cross-region strategic projects
Policy, Procedures & Controls
- Design, implement, and maintain local SOPs, aligned with the global and regional ITC framework and with oversight from the ITC APAC Lead
- Support the group Director of Compliance and the ITC APAC Lead maintain the Group Trade Compliance Program
- Execute internal controls, self-assessments, and audits per SOPs,
- Ensure rigorous reporting to the ITC APAC Lead and resolution of compliance developments.
Training, Culture & Network Leadership
- Support the APAC ITC Lead with the design and deployment of our local ITC training program across functions and sites.
- Support the APAC ITC Lead with animating the ITC Advocate Network across the Southeast Asia region.
- Promote compliance awareness and ownership beyond the core ITC team.
