The National Applications & Sales Specialist – Chromatography is responsible for marketing all PerkinElmer chromatography applications to new and existing customers throughout Australia and New Zealand. Mainly working as an analytical chemist, you will provide application support on the PerkinElmer Chromatography portfolio by carrying sample analysis, designing new analytical methods, and performing validation tests.

Secondly, you will provide sales support by assisting the Applied Markets Sales team with instrument demonstrations and technical presentations at conferences and webinars.  The current PerkinElmer Chromatography portfolio includes GC, GCMS, Portable GCMS, LC, and LCMS applications.

Responsibilities

Applications Support

Support the PerkinElmer Applied Markets Applications Specialists by:

  • Performing chemical and physical testing on different sample types using PerkinElmer Gas and Liquid chromatography systems.
  • Carrying analytical measurements to identify and quantify active ingredients, natural products, and chemical contaminants in food, water, soil, and biological matrixes.
  • Carrying innovative research and developing new analytical methods to assist with present challenges in the applied market.
  • Performing regular in-process quality control before and during the operation of any PerkinElmer Gas and Liquid chromatography system.
  • Conducting technical product demonstrations on PerkinElmer chromatography portfolio.
  • Performing calibrations, analytical checks, method validation and instrument maintenance
  • Developing new methodologies for the detection and quantification of pesticides and mycotoxins in food samples using PerkinElmer LC/MS/MS technology. 
  • Developing new analytical methods for the detection and quantification of Volatiles (VOCs) and Semi-Volatiles (sVOCs) in polymer manufacturing and recycling.
  • Implementing analytical methods for QC and QA testing in food and pharma products. 
  • Generating and implementing standard operating procedures for the analysis of cannabis products including cannabinoids, terpenes, residual solvents, pesticides and mycotoxins analysis.
  • Implementing and improving current methodologies for the detection and quantification of drugs of abuse and relative metabolites in human fluids using PerkinElmer LC/MS/MS technology. 
  • Providing technical support to PerkinElmer’s customers with sample preparation, method development, instrument operation, data analysis and data interpretation.
  • Negotiating the availability of internal resources to produce seamless installation, training and ongoing support.

Sales Support

Support the PerkinElmer Applied Markets Sales team by:

  • Conducting seminars, workshops, presentations, and other suitable promotional activities to promote the Chromatography portfolio.
  • Working closely with the Applied Markets Applications Specialists and Applied Markets Sales & Applications Leader - Oceania to develop and execute within the analytical sciences market segment sales/business strategy in line with PerkinElmer organisational objectives.
  • To keep regularly updated records of the customer base and opportunities in the company’s Customer Relationship Management system – currently Salesforce.com.
  • To build and maintain good relationships with key customers, potential customers, and key opinion leaders in the applied markets community in Australia & New Zealand.
  • To have an in-depth and up to date knowledge of the current and future market trends, including funding availability, technology trends, customer applications and competitive technology, as relates to the Chromatography portfolio.
  • Ensuring post sale activities meet timeline requirements.Grow the Chromatography revenue and customer base across Australia
  • Working with collaborators in the academic space (Monash, RMIT, University of Melbourne, etc.) and industrial partners to best project and promote PerkinElmer capabilities.
  • Ensuring post sale activities meet timeline requirements and working within the limitations of the sales budget.

Basic Qualifications

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or equivalent tertiary Science qualification required. PhD are highly considered.
  • Experience working in the field of Chromatography, On site support with experiments, method development and data analysis.
  • Laboratory experience with Chromatography and other chemical applications
  • Experience working with instrumentation in a troubleshooting capacity
  • Sales mindset and able to do a presentation.
