The Diagnostics Production team provides genetically defined, human genomic reference standards, including FFPE cell line blocks and purified gDNA. These standards offer a sustainable source of reference material to laboratories, proficiency schemes, and manufacturers, and provide an unprecedented level of control to the molecular pathology community. The availability of genetically defined reference standards provides an industry standard for development and quality control of molecular assays, directly improving their accuracy.

This is a lab-based role. Candidates will be expected to work on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and should be organised, highly self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the generation and quality testing of existing products including FFPE cell line           blocks and purified gDNA.
  • Ensure production records are accurately maintained in accordance with the quality system.
  • Assist in preparation of SOPs and ensure that current procedures are kept up-to-date.
  • Ensure product quality by maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Following training, independently perform detailed tasks under minimal supervision.
  • Process, record, and report all data generated in a precise and organized manner.
  • Identify problems associated with own activities.
  • Fill out Quality documentation with supervision.
  • Use resources effectively and hold self and others accountable for maintaining high standards.

Essential Competencies & Requirements

  • Degree in Biotechnology or a Biological discipline (or equivalent experience) with      experience in a biology laboratory setting.
  • A careful and meticulous nature with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and on several different tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work to tight timelines and be able to manage a busy workload.
  • Flexible, adaptable, independent and resilient.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Desirable Competencies & Requirements

  • Experience of working under a quality management system e.g. ISO 9001 
  • Proficient in one or more of the following techniques: digital droplet PCR, cell culture or handling FFPE tissues.
  • Industry experience preferred
