PerkinElmer is seeking an experienced Liquid Chromatography (LC) / Liquid Chromatography Mass Spec (LCMS) Field Applications Scientist for the Pharmaceutical market sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for sales support such as delivering seminars and demonstrating High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography Mass Spec (LCMSMS), instruments during the sales process.  This position would require ensuring customer success, and on-site training and support.

Our Team

The Life Sciences Analytical Team represents PerkinElmer’s entire portfolio of analytical instrumentation and workflow solutions for pharmaceutical, biotech and life science research customers. This includes analytical instrumentation such as chromatography, inorganic, and spectroscopy, as well as consumables and services. We are asking that the individual be highly motivated, has a team mentality for achievement, and has a willingness to learn new methods and technologies in a rapidly changing customer space. Ideally the candidate will have at least Five years of experience developing Liquid Chromatography applications for pharmaceutical end market.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong, working technical knowledge of the portfolio of Liquid Chromatography (LC) products serving the Pharma markets. Help showcase separation and software capabilities through customer specific application in R&D, formulation, process development laboratories, including method development and validation

  • Be the subject matter expert during customer facing activities, present technically relevant topics to help build visibility and funnel for PKI in the chromatography business

  • Develop relationships with key opinion leaders and subject matter experts in chromatography in the industry through technical discussions

  • Execute technical product demonstrations/presentations to individual prospects and seminar audiences in support of pre-sales activity including workshops and RFI/RFP support for LC, LCMSMS products

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of LC, LC/MSMS analysis to support customers in understanding how to maximize their use of our software applications

  • Collaborate with all Field Team members to develop and deploy world-class systems and tools and provide front-line support to sales as the Field application Scientist

  • Provide and deliver product training to field (marketing & sales) as new features/functionality are available for designated product and domain specialty

  • Coordinate with Product Management to identify, communicate, and incorporate new product enhancements and also with the Services team to insure we deliver competitive solutions that are differentiated through value as perceived by our customers

  • Coordinate with Marketing Communications organization to develop and participate in marketing campaign design and execution as needed

  • Other duties as assigned by PerkinElmer leadership

  • Present a professional image at all times to customers, clients and other vendors

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred BS)

  • 5 plus years in the Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD or MS in a scientific discipline

  • Experience and working knowledge of  HPLC, and LC/MSMS including sample preparation requirements in the Pharmaceutical industry

  • Current or previous scientific expertise and experience with a customer focus and excellent communication skills

  • Willingness for as much as 50% overnight travel

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to express information in a succinct and organized manner that is appropriate for the intended audience

  • Self-motivated and energetic with a results-focused approach to achieving daily goals/activities.

  • Aptitude to learn new systems and retain technical information

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
