Director, Product Management, Asset Management Services
| Job ID | REQ-058481 |
| Location | Boston, MA |
| Job Type | Regular |
Asset Management keeps our customers' instruments working, whoever made them. The practice covers multi-vendor service and preventive maintenance across every OEM in the estate, repair and break-fix, and calibration; the full asset lifecycle from onboarding and laboratory relocation, including whole-site moves and consolidations, through to decommission and disposal; the estate record itself, including physical inventory, RFID tagging and standardised asset data; and the commercial control layer of procurement, vendor management, entitlement tracking, benchmarking and spend consolidation. It is delivered by engineers and specialists working in customer laboratories in regulated (GxP) environments, at a scale of hundreds of thousands of managed assets across thousands of laboratories.
The Practice Director owns Asset Management globally as a product. The role defines what the practice sells, why customers buy it, what it costs to deliver, how it is priced and how it evolves, and carries accountability for its revenue, growth and profit.
Owning the product carries two obligations to the rest of the business. The Director enables the commercial organisation to sell it, giving them the proposition, evidence, pricing and confidence to take it to customers. The Director equally enables the operational organisation to deliver it, providing the service design, methodology, standards and capability that make delivery consistent and profitable in every account and region. Alongside this, the Director builds the capability the market will require before it is asked for and represents the organisation as a recognised authority in the field, combining direct leadership of a team of Subject Matter Experts and technical functions with extensive influence across regional, commercial and functional leadership.
Job Responsibilities
- Own the commercial performance of the practice globally, including revenue, growth and profit. Set the annual plan and the multi-year trajectory, and make the investment, pricing and rationalisation decisions required to deliver them.
- Define the offering strategy and multi-year roadmap: segments served, offerings to build, scale, partner on or retire, and the position the practice holds against competitors, grounded in market assessment, competitive analysis and customer evidence.
- Define the customer value proposition, and own the pricing, packaging and rate card architecture together with the business case evidence that supports it.
- Own service development end to end, taking offerings from concept through design, business case, pilot, launch and hypercare into scaled delivery that is sellable, repeatable and profitable by design.
- Own go to market and sales enablement, including positioning, qualification criteria, proposal content, pricing guardrails and training, and personally lead the shaping of strategic and complex pursuits.
- Set and protect the delivery standard through the methodologies, governance, quality frameworks and performance metrics that make delivery consistent in every account and region, with the assurance mechanism to prove it is being met.
- Own the vendor and spend economics that sit behind the practice, including the OEM and third-party relationships, entitlement, benchmarking and consolidation, so that commercial control is a differentiator of the offering rather than a back-office activity.
- Champion digital transformation of the practice, acting as the business partner to Digital Product Management: representing customer and operational needs, identifying where digital solutions improve the service, shaping feature prioritisation and release planning, and driving adoption across the organisation. Evolve the portfolio so customers realise greater value through connectivity, insight and technology-enabled service offerings.
- Build capability ahead of demand, maintaining a forward view of the technology, the regulatory environment and customer operating models, and owning the workforce capability plan and succession for critical expertise.
- Represent the practice externally as a recognised authority through customer executive forums, industry conferences, publications and strategic partnerships, converting that standing into pipeline and credibility.
- Recruit, lead and develop a high calibre team of Subject Matter Experts and technical functions, and secure outcomes across regions and functions through influence rather than direct authority.
- Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.
Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities of this job at any time.
