Location Bengaluru, KarnatakaIN Job ID REQ-056517The Field Application Specialist for the Chromatography product line is a critical technical and commercial enabler responsible for driving solution adoption, customer success, and sustainable business growth. The role bridges customers, sales, service, product management, and marketing by translating complex analytical requirements into differentiated, value-based solutions using PerkinElmer’s chromatography portfolio.
This position requires deep hands-on expertise, strong customer engagement skills, and the ability to influence technical buying decisions across pharmaceutical, food, environmental, applied, and academic markets.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Customer Engagement
Serve as the subject matter expert for Chromatography platforms including LC-MS/MS, GC, GC-MS, and HPLC across assigned regions and accounts.
Engage directly with customers to understand analytical workflows, regulatory expectations, and application challenges, positioning PerkinElmer solutions as best-fit outcomes.
Deliver high-impact product demonstrations, application feasibility studies, method discussions, and proof-of-concept evaluations.
Provide advanced application support during pre-sales, post-installation, and critical customer engagements to ensure successful adoption and customer satisfaction.
Business Enablement & Sales Support
Partner closely with sales teams to support opportunity qualification, solution design, technical justification, and deal closure.
Actively participate in strategic account planning, key opportunity reviews, and forecast discussions.
Support the entire sales lifecycle by updating and maintaining opportunity stages, technical notes, and customer insights in SFDC.
Assist in converting marketing leads into qualified sales opportunities through technical validation and consultative engagement.
Drive repeat business and portfolio expansion by identifying up-sell and cross-sell opportunities within existing customer installations.
Product & Portfolio Management Support
Own and manage all product-line documentation including PDLs, PIRs, catalogs, application notes, certifications, and commercial details across internal systems such as SAP, QS3, and corporate portals.
Support new product introductions by enabling effective commercial rollouts, internal readiness, and customer-facing messaging.
Communicate product lifecycle updates including launches, upgrades, transitions, and phase-outs to internal stakeholders and customers.
Provide structured competitive intelligence covering technology comparisons, positioning, strengths, gaps, and differentiation.
Market Intelligence & Solution Development
Continuously analyze market trends, customer workflows, regulatory landscapes, and emerging analytical needs across target segments.
Translate market insights into actionable feedback for product management, R&D, and marketing teams.
Develop customized business and application solutions tailored to specific customer problems and industry use cases.
Explore and propose alternate technical approaches when customer challenges fall outside standard application frameworks.
Knowledge Management & Capability Building
Develop and maintain a structured troubleshooting database and contribute to application playbooks capturing field learnings, customer pain points, and best practices.
Create high-quality sales collateral including application briefs, competitive positioning tools, and solution narratives.
Design and deliver technical training programs for sales, service, and channel partners, ensuring consistent capability uplift across teams.
Act as a mentor and technical coach for junior application specialists and sales colleagues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
Work closely with service teams to ensure smooth handover, effective troubleshooting, and high uptime for customer systems.
Support marketing initiatives such as seminars, workshops, roadshows, webinars, and customer engagement programs.
Provide on-site customer support as required based on business priorities, strategic commitments, and critical project needs.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, Physical Chemistry, or Food Technology; Ph.D. in Chemistry is an added advantage.
8–12 years of hands-on experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques, including method development, optimization, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
Strong understanding of regulated environments and industry standards relevant to pharmaceutical, food, environmental, and applied markets.
