Responsibilities

- Provides day to day oversight of the Consumables Inventory Operations team, including coordination and responsibility for:
- Assignment of daily tasks
- Creation and direction of trainings
- Team communication
- Delegation of daily projects
- Responsible for performing all tasks that the Consumables Inventory Operations Associates provide, based on client demand.
- Ensure staff is compliant with all contractual, safety and job-specific regulations & requirements.
- Sources alternative product for hard-to-find inventory, working directly with client vendors as needed.
- Relays expectations of customer service standards and ensures team goals are being met.
- Monitors purchasing and inventory issues including back-order reporting and expediting, direct factory shipments, vendor communications, and resolving open invoices.
- Oversees inventory management related functions such as auditing slow moving and dead inventory, conducting monthly inventory reconciliation, and reporting.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems within the system and recommend improvements.
- Complete quarterly review of stock master items and pricing files updates.
- Assists clients in planning of KPI Improvement and efficiency projects and ensures their implementation by the Lab Supplies team.
- Coordinates and manages project tasks to ensure delivery within allotted timelines.
- Completes routine safety tasks/meetings with Lab Supplies Technicians.
- Develops basic understanding of customer computer systems (SAP, Intranet, and customer specific systems) in fulfillment of job duties.
- Updates Standard work practice documentation as changes are implemented.
- Meets goals and objectives for safety, performance and quality.
- Organize, analyze and present metrics and KPI data to the Technical Laboratory Services Manager with reportable performance data and level of service.
- Provide input regarding training and standard workflow documentation.
- Apply the necessary troubleshooting techniques to resolve discrepancies.
- Follow proper safety precautions related to identify job hazards.
- Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment for self and the team

Critical Skills:
- Strong communication and training skills
- Understanding of inventory software packages and operation
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Basic experience with MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Business or Science with 3+ years of inventory management experience related to above responsibilities OR
- High School Degree/GED with 5+ years of inventory management experience related to above responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of how R&D laboratories function and has a proven track record of supporting those activities at various complexity levels
- Background in a laboratory setting with a Chemistry/Biology focus
Working Environment:
- Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
- Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
- The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite.
- Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
- Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
- Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
