We are responsible for a range of chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation. Systems engineers perform a central role in a project team by developing the design architecture, sub-systems specifications, and then going on to build prototypes and to design and run performance verification programs. They are responsible for systems integration, testing and for troubleshooting issues that arise.
The successful candidate will apply physics and/or chemistry and mechanical, electrical and software engineering knowledge and experience in combination with good design and problem solving ability to develop products and solutions that meet performance and cost targets and that are completed on time. Good team working ability, strong motivation, together with a deep understanding of underlying technology is essential.
Priorities and Objectives
New product development:
·To work with other member of the product development team to translate product requirements into functional specifications.
·Undertake system design and analysis including selection of technical approach and definition of sub-systems specifications
·Conduct technical reviews and react to input from other members of the project team.
·Assist in the compilation of plans, estimates, task lists and risk management plans in support of program objectives, project estimates and funding bids.
·Design and plan experiments and define an evaluation program that effectively manages project risk
·To commission and evaluate prototypes, systems, sub-systems, and components during product development to ensure their quality and fitness of purpose
·Development of manufacturing assembly and test processes including the design and build of text fixtures
·To document and conduct technical reviews of the design and of evaluation plans/test results.Write and present technical project reports including design the final performance validation review.
·Capable of functioning as R&D Lead on projects as appropriate.Contribute to and participate in Project Core Team(s).
·Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering
·3 Years industrial experience in a systems engineering role
·Experience with heat transfer and behavior of materials at different temperatures
·Experience reviewing designs and defining technical approach
·Experience in product development
·Familiar with manufacturing process
·Basic Electronics principles
·Control systems, noise and signal processing
·Experience of product development within a company making chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation
Some business knowledge of the chemical analysis market
